先週の水曜日から外国人研究者としてインドネシアのウダヤナ大学講師の Wiwik さんが生物制御化学研究室に滞在することになりました.Wiwik さんは大学教員であると同時に博士課程の学生でもあり,博士論文をまとめるために茨城大学で機器分析を用いた天然有機化合物の構造解析を行う予定です.月曜日には研究室の学生さんたちとささやかな歓迎会を霞光荘で行いました.日本語の話せない外国人研究者を受入れるのは生物制御化学研究室としては久しぶりです.学生さんたちは(長谷川も)貧しい英会話能力で何とかコミュニケーションを取らなければならないので苦労していますが,そういう経験も良い刺激になると思います.Wiwik さんの滞在期間は三か月と短いですが,是非博士論文に使える良いデータを出してもらいたいと思います.
9/22, 23 の土日には化学生態学研究室と合同で鬼怒川温泉に研究室旅行に出かけました.戸嶋先生と何人かの学生さんは都合が合わずに不参加でしたが,総勢 12 名での旅行となりました.初日はお昼に宇都宮餃子を食べてから,鬼怒川温泉の伊東園ホテルニューさくらにチェックインしました.バイキングでの夕食を取った後は,温泉,麻雀,トランプ,部屋飲みなどで夜の時間を過ごしました.二日目は天候が悪くかなり雨が降っていたのですが,一本杉渓流魚センターというところの釣り堀でニジマス釣りを行いました.あまりに雨が激しかったので,釣りたい人に釣りは任せて,私も含めて半分ぐらいの人は屋根のあるバーベキュー場で雨宿りしていました.釣り組がびしょ濡れになりながら魚を釣った後は串に刺した魚を炭火で焼いて食べました.14:30 過ぎに渓流魚センターを出て,途中道の駅にのみや(真岡)で休憩して,阿見には 19:00 ごろ帰ってきました.雨に濡れながら釣りをしたせいで,その後風邪を引いた学生さんもいたようです.
