本日の研究室セミナーの文献紹介の担当は四年生の奥木さんで，紹介した論文は Quandt, E. M. et al. Decaffeination and measurement of caffeine content by addicted Escherichia coli with a refactored N-demethylation operon from Pseudomonas putida CBB5. ACS Synth. Biol. in press でした． 増殖にカフェインを必要とする大腸菌を遺伝子工学的に作成し，カフェインの定量や分解への応用を可能とした報告です．
